Are white fillings as strong as the old silver ones?

Over years, temperature changes cause them to expand and contract, gradually wedging the tooth apart. How long does a composite restoration take?
One visit, typically 30 to 45 minutes depending on the size of the cavity. There is no temporary filling stage. The composite is shaped and polished in the same appointment, and you can eat normally within an hour.
Can you replace my existing silver fillings?
Yes. Old amalgam that is cracked, leaking, or simply causing you to dislike your smile can be safely removed and replaced with composite in a single visit. We take care to contain the mercury vapour during removal and check that the underlying tooth is still healthy before placing the new restoration.
